You’re the piece of gold that flushes all my soul

I apologize for my recent hiatus, I've been a lot busier in Ottawa than I thought I would be. I am not dead or vanished, although it is unlikely I will be able to keep posting at a regular pace. So whenever I think there's something you really need to hear, this place'll be updated. Assuming I have any readers left at all. *Gropes blindly into the darkness* Now, you may or may not already have this album, but I finally picked up a puchased copy of the debut EP from the delightfully Canadian Controller.Controller.

Controller.Controller - History
Track List:
1. .......
2. History
3. Silent Seven
4. Sleep Over It
5. Bruised Broken Beaten
6. Disco Blackout
7. Watch

You're in for mass distraction

I am and will remain at lostonpurpose@gmail.com for requests, suggestions, general hate mail, etc.
Cheers!

That's Just An Observation

I was fortunate to hear this little EP from Saskatchewan indie darlings Despistado early last year and fell in love immediately. Though I believe they have since disbanded due to creative differences, it was a good ride while it lasted.

Despistado - The Emergency Response EP
Track List:
1. A Stirstick's Prediction
2. Can I Please Have An Order of Girl With A Side of Confused
3. Taste This Picture
4. Bubbles
5. Hi/Fi Stereo
6. Lipstick

That's very anti-patriarchal of you

I've got lots of things to take care of before the move at the end of the month, so I shall do my best to post things, but if I'm delayed, don't be mad.

I Woke Up Thirsty on an Island in the Sea

I'm pretty sure anybody who's heard The Unicorns already know how great Islands are, so I won't hype them up any more. But by request, here is Return to the Sea. Obvious highlights include Humans, Rough Gem and Volcanoes.

Islands - Return to the Sea
Track List:
1. Swans (Life After Death)
2. Humans
3. Don't Call Me Whitney, Bobby
4. Rough Gem
5. Tsuxiit
6. Where There's A Will, There's A Whalebone
7. Jogging Gorgeous Summer
8. Volcanoes
9. If
10. Ones

And to answer a very new question about a very old post, the lyric 'I want to be forgotten and I don't want to be reminded' comes from the Strokes song 'What Ever Happened?'

Don't Turn Your Head, It's Easy to Forget How We Were

I don't know about you, but this heat wave we've been getting everywhere has made me just want to sit and do absolutely nothing. So in that spirit, here's a little EP from ambience masters The Album Leaf.

The Album Leaf - In An Off White Room EP

1. Project Loop
2. Glisten
3. Six A.M.
4. Off White Room

I also got a request for a re-post of Har Mar Superstar in Sendspace form.
That's all for today. Islands coming soon.

Well I Hope That You're Happy...

OK, say what you will, but I love the All American Rejects. They're very catchy and it's my blog so I can post whatever I want. I also admit to having a teenage girl crush on Tyson Ritter. Anyways, I caught their show in London on Thursday night with opening acts Damone from Boston (Noelle on lead vocals sure can scream) and the surprisingly good semi-local alt-rockers illScarlett from Missasauga. Despite a few unexplainable 14-year-olds in need of Ritalin, there was good energy all the way through, although I would have liked the sets to be longer. But I got Tyson to sign my CD, so all was worth it.

All American RejectsillScarlett
Damone

illScarlett - Pacino
illScarlett - Mary Jane

Damone - Out Here All Night
Damone - What We Came Here For

All American Rejects - Stab My Back
All American Rejects - Can't Take It

P.S. I lament the recent remaks by one lyrical genius, the recently married Rivers Cuomo proclaiming that as of now, one of my favourite bands, Weezer, is "done." However, we all recall the band's last hiatus follwing the end of the Pinkerton tour in 1997 and lasting until the release of the Green Album in 2001. So fear not people, all hope is not lost, if there is any justice.

Yo Ho, A Pirate's Life for Me...

I saw Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest yesterday (and still managed to get in free although it sold out all night) and I just have to say, even if you're not a scary Johnny Depp obsessive like myself, everyone will love this movie. Although not quite on par with the first, the action is amped up, the stakes are a great deal higher and the story has a much more sinister undertone. Look forward to the fantastic Johnny/Orlando Bloom/Jack Davenport sword fight. I won't reveal the ending, but I just have to say, I was blown away. I'm no movie critic, but if you saw the first one, POTC:2 is worth checking out.
Rating:

5 Davy Jones tentacles out of 5

Feel free to post opinions about the flick.

By the Desperate 'n Confused Emotion of the Youth...

I vaguely remember someone asking for some Gogol and if not, I've finally cracked and you get some anyway. I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical of Gogol Bordello at first, but he grew on me and now this is one of my most played albums. I personally love when different genres fuse together and this mixes traces of latin, punk and reggae, with Eugene Hutz's fantastic voice and a lot of accordion. You won't find gypsy punk anywhere else. Highlights include 60 Revolutions, Start Wearing Purple and Mishto!

Gogol Bordello - Gypsy Punks: Underdog World Strike
Track List:
1. Sally
2. I Would Never Wanna Be Young Again
3. Not a Crime
4. Immigrant Punk
5. 60 Revolutions
6. Avenue B
7. Dogs Were Barking
8. Oh No
9. Start Wearing Purple
10. Think Locally, Fuck Globally
11. Underdog World Strike
12. Illumination
13. Santa Marinella
14. Undestructable
15. Mishto!

All your sanity and wits will vanish, I promise

Happy 4th of July to all you Americans out there and happy belated Canada Day to my fellow Canucks.

I came as advice, I came to shore

Once upon a Thursday, a girl was doing her bi-weekly hunt through the local music store, searching for all that's new and not crappy, a difficult task this was. Upon reaching the M section, the girl came across a discovery, there was a copy of The Moon and Antarctica for a very, very low price indeed. Having only a burned copy of this album before, this made the girl very happy. She then immediately purchased the album for the very, very low price indeed and all was well in the kingdom.
