Everything about it makes your pretty head spin...
Keep those road trip songs coming, people. Blogs are about input as much as output.
A very good friend of mine, Mr. Finian McKean, has been getting enough buzz around here that his first solo release, Shades are Drawn has been re-released in shiny new format. He's finally getting some well deserved attention, and I think everyone who hasn't already should hear this album. So I provide you with is a refresher course in Finn, who can be heard on college radios all over. Here are some samples, in case you missed it the first time.
Finian McKean - Shades are Drawn
Finian McKean - Oh My Heart is Heavy
Finian McKean - Black Hole
Pick up "Shades Are Drawn"

Lord knows it would be the first time...
Well, here I am at my landmark 50th post.
I shall now throw confetti in the air and reflect while singing 'Memories.'
And now that that's over
I'ma gonna be doing a lot of driving in the near future and have devised a master plan that's gonna require some audience participation. (I know how difficult it is, but do your best)
I shall put together the first ever Lost on Purpose Road Trip Mix!!!
I'm enthralled, aren't you? So think of your favourite song to drive anywhere to, whether it's to the store or to the other side of the country. Anything that makes the speedometer go up. I shall then post for all to see.
Send all entries to lostonpurpose@gmail.com (Please send through YouSendIt)
You can do it, I believe in you.
As promised, here are some Smiths.
The Smiths - Please Please Please...Let Me Get What I Want
The Smiths - Bigmouth Strikes Again
The Smiths - The Headmaster Ritual

Sorry about my lack of posting lately, I know it makes baby Jesus cry. I've been extremely busy as of late, but once the smoke clears I'll get back at it. I'm still reeling from a comment I heard a few minutes ago ("Who are the Smiths?") so I'll probably post something from Morrissey and the gang once I get home, just to verify the awesomeness of them and the stupidity of people I know.
Until then...
Until then...

Mama says a pistol is the devil's right hand...
Now, the way everybody and their friends love this movie, I'm pretty sure I am the only person in this hemisphere that thought it was way too over-rated. Groundbreaking maybe, but just too damn long and draggy. Regardless of my boredom while watching the movie, the brilliant film score certainly held my attention. Acoustic guitar slays me every time. And I love Rufus Wainwright. S'got some pretty fantastic country acts on there too.

Track List:
1. Gustavo Santaolalla - Opening
2. Willie Nelson - He Was A Friend of Mine
3. Gustavo Santaolalla - Brokeback Mountain Score 1
4. Emmylou Harris - A Love That Will Never Grow Old
5. Teddy Thompson & Rufus Wainwright - King of the Road
6. Gustavo Santaolalla - Snow
7. Steve Earle - The Devil's Right Hand
8. Mary McBride - No One's Gonna Love You Like Me
9. Gustavo Santaolalla - Brokeback Mountain Score 2
10. Teddy Thompson - I Don't Want to Say Goodbye
11. Jackie Green - I Will Never Let You Go
12. Gustavo Santaolalla - Riding Horses
13. The Gas Band - An Angel Went Up In Flames
14. Linda Ronstadt - It's So Easy
15. Gustavo Santaolalla - Brokeback Mountain Score 3
16. Rufus Wainwright - The Maker Makes
17. Gustavo Santaolalla - The Wings (Closing)
If You Can't Fix It, You Gotta Stand It
Now here's a movie I'd love to see...
Now that that classic movie has been ruined for you forever, I take my leave.

Take the Night by the Hands, Set It On Fire
I got this in my Inbox awhile back, but havn't had the time to really listen until now. The following is an acoustic album from Pete Doherty(Baby Shambles, The Libertines) sometimes known as Kate Moss's cocaine-hoarding former boyfriend. Since he's fresh off his recent drug trial complete with his usual wacky antics, here's what he should be famous for. Very bare-bones and very intriguing.
Track List:
1. My Darling Clementine
2. Back From The Dead
3. Lady Don't Fall Backwards / Bollywood to Battersea
4. The Whole World Is Our Playground
5. Hooray For The 21st Century
6. Curtain Call
7. There Is A Light / 32nd Of December
8. Conversation Diva
9. Never Never
10. East Of Eden
11. My Darling Clementine
12. There She Goes (A. L. H.)
13. Can't Stand Me Now
14. Ha Ha Wall
15. The Ballad Of Grimaldi
16. Stix And Stones
Shaking and Withdrawn Megamix
P.S. In a few days, I am getting the fantastic new album from Morrissey, Ringleader of the Tormentors. I suggest you do the same.

Initiating Shut Down Sequence...
Welcome to the story of The Mars Volta's De-Loused in the Comatorium. This is one of those albums it's impossible to categorize, so listen for yourself. A love letter to late musician Julio Venegas (who committed suicide by jumping onto an Interstate from an overpass in El Paso back in '96), who is the influence for the character "Cerpin Taxt" who tries to commit suicide by overdosing on morphine. Fantastic vocals, epic lengthy songs, Flea from the Chili Peppers playing on 9 of the 10 tracks (though you would never tell) and some of my favourite album designs ever are all reasons to get this album. Highlights include This Apparatus must be Unearthed, Inertiatic Esp and Roulette Dares (The Haunt Of).

Track List:
1. Son et Lumiere
2. Inertiatic Esp
3. Roulette Dares (The Haunt Of)
4. Tira Me a las AraƱas
5. Drunkship of Lanterns
6. Eriatarka
7. Cicatriz Esp
8. This Apparatus Must Be Unearthed
9. Televators
10. Take the Veil Cerpin Taxt
My chalk outline will stalk these grounds...just as they have stalked me
Here are a few more offerings from the Mars Volta. I highly suggest their entire catalog. Go pick up Frances the Mute NOW!! I'm timing you.

All around me are familiar faces, worn out places...
I'm back, and before you ask, I had a wonderful time. There is no place in the world like Costa Rica and I sure as hell can't go back to regular Canadian coffee now. Just in case you care, the song played on my Ipod the most throughout my little excursion was 'Freebird' for some reason. I was very sad to leave, and just to prove that life is never short of it's poetic moments, some guy was playing 'Dust in the Wind' on an acoustic guitar as I boarded the plane in the terminal in San Jose. Crazyness. Upon my return, they had killed off my favourite TV character.(Grrr, yes, I care immensely, make fun of me later.) However, on the flip side, I see things are looking up, as Kristi has set up shop again. Hopefully, things work out better for her the second time around and I wish her all the best, as always. That being said, I hope I didn't lose my loyal readers, if any, to far greater bloggers than I. I'm still here, I promise. Okay, on to the music.
Since I've been back, my head has been in a weird place and the best thing that I can take is your token, trippy, mellow, floaty stuff usually done by a British band. So here is one of my favourite prime examples. Who can deny the catchiness of Wires? Don't tell me you don't love it.

Track List:
1. Chances
2. Half Light
3. Tourist
4. Trading Air
5. Wires
6. If I Found Out
7. Yesterday Threw Everything At Me
8. Street Map
9. Modern Mafia
10. Twenty Four Hours
11. I Love
It's time to tell you honestly, so we can alter history
Bear with me, until I get back to simulated normalcy.

All my bags are packed, I'm ready to Go
Well kids, I'm off to Costa Rica, so I hope you all have a lovely week-and-a-half. I'm very excited, no matter how pissed off I am that I'm going to miss the Stills at Blue Mountain on the 11th (grrrr). I'll be back soon, and remember email lostonpurpose@gmail.com for any requests. In the meantime, feel free to check out any of the other fabulous blogs on my sidebar.
Ciao!
