I'ma gonna be doing a lot of driving in the near future and have devised a master plan that's gonna require some audience participation. (I know how difficult it is, but do your best)

Sorry about my lack of posting lately, I know it makes baby Jesus cry. I've been extremely busy as of late, but once the smoke clears I'll get back at it. Now, the way everybody and their friends love this movie, I'm pretty sure I am the only person in this hemisphere that thought it was way too over-rated. Groundbreaking maybe, but just too damn long and draggy. Regardless of my boredom while watching the movie, the brilliant film score certainly held my attention. Acoustic guitar slays me every time. And I love Rufus Wainwright. S'got some pretty fantastic country acts on there too.

Initiating Shut Down Sequence...

Welcome to the story of The Mars Volta's De-Loused in the Comatorium. This is one of those albums it's impossible to categorize, so listen for yourself. A love letter to late musician Julio Venegas (who committed suicide by jumping onto an Interstate from an overpass in El Paso back in '96), who is the influence for the character "Cerpin Taxt" who tries to commit suicide by overdosing on morphine. Fantastic vocals, epic lengthy songs, Flea from the Chili Peppers playing on 9 of the 10 tracks (though you would never tell) and some of my favourite album designs ever are all reasons to get this album. Highlights include This Apparatus must be Unearthed, Inertiatic Esp and Roulette Dares (The Haunt Of).

All around me are familiar faces, worn out places...

I'm back, and before you ask, I had a wonderful time. There is no place in the world like Costa Rica and I sure as hell can't go back to regular Canadian coffee now. Just in case you care, the song played on my Ipod the most throughout my little excursion was 'Freebird' for some reason. I was very sad to leave, and just to prove that life is never short of it's poetic moments, some guy was playing 'Dust in the Wind' on an acoustic guitar as I boarded the plane in the terminal in San Jose. Crazyness. Upon my return, they had killed off my favourite TV character.(Grrr, yes, I care immensely, make fun of me later.) However, on the flip side, I see things are looking up, as Kristi has set up shop again. Hopefully, things work out better for her the second time around and I wish her all the best, as always. That being said, I hope I didn't lose my loyal readers, if any, to far greater bloggers than I. I'm still here, I promise. Okay, on to the music.

Since I've been back, my head has been in a weird place and the best thing that I can take is your token, trippy, mellow, floaty stuff usually done by a British band. So here is one of my favourite prime examples. Who can deny the catchiness of Wires? Don't tell me you don't love it.

You Could Never Publish My Love...

I leave for a little excursion to Costa Rica in 9 days, so I'm really busy right now. I believe I'm returning on either March 18th or 19th, so I'm not leaving forever, just to clarify.

While digging through my Inbox, I found this little EP in the mail. I think Eric did a post of this a little while back, but what the hell. I must say, I (like pretty much every other blogger I read) am usually drawn to music that isn't conventional, and this certainly fits the mold. You can just kick back and space out for a good ten minutes. Although this isn't the best that Stationary Odyssey has come up with, (that being More or Less is More) this is certainly worth a listen.

To those interested: Kristi informed me that she has cancelled her blog because it had become something that she didn't want it to be. However, if she finds things that she really wants posted, she will send it my way. Just remember people, we keep and maintain these blogs for ourselves, not just for you. So far, I have not encountered the same problems that she did, and hopefully that's the way it stays.

I feel substantially less guilty than normal for posting this album because I know how very hard it is to find, but if you like Make Me Pretty, I highly recommend buying Darby and Joan, the latest fantastic release from Gentleman Reg.

I'm Beginning to Know Things...

So, I finally have some time, and I remember there being a request for this wonderful album, but I forget by whom. The Cansecos were played in my car during Canadian music week, though I never got around to posting it on here.
They hail from Toronto and as far as I know, this album dropped in 2002 is their only offering. I heard somewhere that they have a follow-up due for release sometime this year, but I don't know how accurate those rumours are. It's damn difficult to find now, so I hope you like it.
